Scott Thompson is the Automation Manager for diverse integration solutions at Champion Technology Services’ Sabine locations (Lake Charles, LA and Beaumont, TX). He has over 20 years of experience in various technical and leadership roles within the petro-chemical and oil & gas industries.

Scott began his career in 1993 as an embedded I&E draftsman, at Firestone Polymers LLC. Over time this progressed into an instrument designer role. This lead to training on the DCS and PLC systems throughout the facility. In 1997, Firestone Polymers offered a direct position managing the DCS for the facility. From 1997 – 2007, Scott lead the design, configuration, migration and maintenance of the DCS systems. This included live cutovers of the distillation units, continuous polymerization units and crumbing units as well as coordinated upgrades for the boiler house and S88-compliant batch polymerization units.

In 2007, an opportunity to be challenged further presented itself through Champion Technology Services. Scott was drawn to the variety of processes and technologies Champion supports. Some of his accomplishments are the integration of SAP with process control systems and a web-based LIMS that makes use of data from/to a historian, ERP, DCS and analytical equipment. Scott has progressed in his roles with Champion from Automation Engineer, Engineering Manager, Engineering Supervisor and Automation Manager.

As Automation Manager, Scott continues serving the teams that are propelling Champion Technology Services to the forefront of process automation in Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas.
