Les Coker has held the position of Business Manager for Champion’s Houston telecommunications office for over nine years. In his current role as Telecom Manager, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Champion’s telecom and microwave services department. Les leads and develops all Champion telecom engineers and technicians. He ensures that Champion maintains a well-rounded group of telecom specialists designed to meet technology and resource needs for current and future telecommunications projects in the Gulf Coast Region and the Rocky Mountain Midwest.
As an experienced Telecom Manager for Champion’s only telecom office, Les has managed the Champion telecom team for various large-scale projects including a City of Houston/Harris County 911 network build-out involving the installation of 48 hops of licensed microwave radios. Other notable projects overseen by Les include an intelligent grid hybrid network build out for a power utilities company and wireless connectivity for water treatment facilities in the Houston market.
Prior to joining the Champion team, Les held the position of Manager of Microwave Services at Granger Telecom. He also worked as a Senior Technical Analyst for CenterPoint Energy and a Network Designer for G&P Engineering for seven years.
Les possesses an expansive knowledge base and maintains a position on the forefront of the industry by participating in training courses on subjects such as telecommunications distributions systems, project management tools and techniques, and chemical operations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from LeTourneau University and an Associate of Science Degree in Instrumentation and Control Systems Technology from Texas State Technical College.
