With over 30 years’ experience in the automation field, John jumpstarted his career as an electrical apprentice for All Phase Electrical Services where he gained experience troubleshooting and assisting with low and medium voltage electrical installations for industrial motor control systems. Before joining Champion, John also spent three years as a Controls Engineer for Union Texas Petrochemicals and seven years as a Senior Automation Engineer for Pegasus International.
As Regional Manager for the Rocky Mountain Region, John Hargroder manages customer relationships, employees, projects, and business development efforts for Champion’s Salt Lake City, UT; Grand Junction, CO; and Denver, CO offices. John was a Business Manager for the team since 2006 when the Salt Lake City office opened its doors as Champion’s first location in the Rocky Mountain Region. As Regional Manager, he now oversees operations at all three offices which collectively have over 80 customers located in various industries and numerous states from North Dakota to Texas.
Under John’s leadership, the Rocky Mountain Region offices have implemented control systems for refineries, several natural gas compressor stations, liquid pipeline pumping and receiving stations, truck and rail loading terminals, solution mining operations, manufacturing lines and food and beverages lines.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (currently the University of Louisiana - Lafayette). John is focused on personal development and has attended multiple leadership development programs.
In his spare time, John enjoys cycling with his wife, fitness activities, and spending time with his family.
